Amman, 26 August 2019 – Zain Jordan and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Jordan signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to collaborate on advancing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in Jordan.

As per the MOU, Zain Jordan and UNFPA will collaborate to advance gender equality, women’s empowerment and youth led initiatives by conducting a number of nationwide joint campaigns in the country addressing one of UNFPA’s three global inspirational    transformative agenda ‘Zero gender-based violence by 2030’. “The partnership between UNFPA Country Office in Jordan and with Zain under the banner of Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment is both strategic and timely,” said UNFPA Jordan Head of Office Ms. Enshrah Ahmed.

Stemming from its commitment towards supporting local communities including the Jordanian youth, Zain in partnership with UNFPA will join hands to advance various options for young generation through education, capacity building for youth on life skills, innovative health tools and strengthening youth community engagement. In addition the partnership will foster collaboration between Zain Innovation Campus (ZINC) and UNFPA Shababna (youth) network for the promotion of youth led innovative initiatives in Jordan.

The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) is one of the main United Nations organizations that works to address population and development issues, with emphasis on reproductive health and gender equality guided by the principles of the International Conference on Population and Development held in 1994 and the current Sustainable Development Goals.
